State-law and directory questions

Injury Lawyer Atlas questions

Understand what the map can show, what must be verified, and why a specific legal answer requires the right jurisdiction and facts.

01Why can’t a national page calculate my filing deadline?

The answer can depend on the jurisdiction, cause of action, accrual rule, incident date, defendant, notice requirement, tolling rule, and statutory amendment history. The atlas identifies questions and official sources; a lawyer applies them to specific facts.

02What is the difference between a limitation period and a notice deadline?

A limitation period generally governs when an action must be commenced. A separate law may require earlier notice or an administrative claim, especially for a public entity. The applicable rule and required recipient vary.

03How should I use a state-law summary?

Treat it as an orientation. Open the linked official statute, check its effective date and related sections, and ask a licensed lawyer about exceptions, accrual, and whether the rule applies to the claim.

04Does the nearest firm necessarily practice in the right jurisdiction?

No. Office proximity does not establish licensing, jurisdiction, venue, or governing law. Ask which individual lawyer would handle the matter, where that lawyer is licensed, and which courts and laws may be involved.

05Which city pages are included in the sitemap?

Published city and town research pages are included so search engines can discover the local evidence, state-law, and firm research paths. Search-filter URLs remain excluded from indexing.

06Does a firm profile count as a recommendation?

No. A profile is a factual research starting point, not an endorsement, ranking, or assessment of legal ability.

07How do I verify an individual lawyer?

Use the official attorney licensing authority for the relevant state. Confirm current status, public discipline information, identity, and contact details directly.

08Can Injury Lawyer Atlas evaluate my claim?

No. The site provides directory records and general education. It does not determine liability, calculate a deadline, estimate value, or provide legal advice.

09Where do population figures come from?

The geography uses U.S. Census Bureau 2025 incorporated-place estimates. Rhode Island includes towns; Hawaii uses 2020 Census designated-place counts. Population is context, not a lawyer ranking.
